Welcome to The Resilience Room: Mind the Movement's alternative to a boiler room.
Weekly peer led support groups for political, movement, democracy and civil service staff.
This is for you if you lost your career due to funding cuts in 2025 or you’re still recovering from the election in 2024. It’s for you if your job requires you to be extremely online and address every breaking news story. It’s for you if you’re the person an entire team looks to for direction while you’re just trying to keep your own head above water.
The Resilience Room is your space to be in community.
These supportive, private spaces are for you to be able to speak freely about what you’re dealing with and be supported by people who understand because they’re in the same boat.
Each group will meet on Zoom at the same time each week. These groups aren’t therapy, they’re spaces to gather with people who understand the unique stress and responsibility that comes with the work we do.
Here are the nitty gritty details:
WHO: Each peer group is made up of staff who are most similar in experience, industry and identity. As our network grows, we’ll expand, add and branch off into additional groups.
WHAT: This isn’t therapy and it isn’t networking. This is a peer led space for honest conversations about how we survive the dumpster fire of the world right now.
WHERE: Zoom
WHEN: Each group will have a recurring time each week when they meet for an hour. You’re welcome to come every week or drop-in when you most need it, but you’ll always gather with your same cohort. We strongly encourage you to attend at least 3 times before you decide if it’s for you or not. New members will be added to existing groups at the end of each month.
WHY: We don’t heal in isolation and we know so many of us are hungry for community. It’s hard to find people who understand where you’re coming from or that won’t turn around and gossip about what you said. The Resilience Room is a curated, confidential space for you to gather with people who share your professional and lived experiences.
HOW: Thanks to our generous donors, we’re able to host these peer groups at no cost to movement and democracy workers. If you’re able to make a tax deductible donation to help fund your group, we’d welcome your support and suggest a $20 monthly recurring donation which you can make here.

FAQs
Do I have to go every week, forever?
There’s no official commitment, but for the benefit of the group, we hope you’ll stick around and keep showing up. We highly recommend coming at least 3 times before you decide if it’s for you or not.
I can’t make the current day/time for the right group for me, what do I do?
Day and times of the groups may change as needs and schedules shift, but we schedule each group to be consistent for at least twelve weeks so you can plan ahead!
Who leads the groups?
Each group is led by a trauma informed facilitator who has been selected by Mind the Movement and completed training from our partners at Give an Hour who’ve been providing mental health support to high risk populations for two decades. Some facilitators are also mental health practitioners, but each group is led by someone with shared lived experiences as the people in their group.
Are there set topics or things we’ll learn?
This isn’t training (although we offer that too). We’ll have occasional themes and we love an icebreaker, but each group can decide how much or how little structure they want to have.
I’d rather have 1:1 support, can I get that instead?
See our 1:1 support offerings here and check back as they expand.
More groups to come, but for now, select the group that mostly closely applies to you. Have other questions? Send them our way at hello@mindthemovement.org.
